LLOYD H. HANSEN
PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR Lloyd H. Hansen, of Brookings, South
Dakota, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The
International Association of Lions Clubs at the association's 80th
International Convention, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, June
30-July 5, 1997. Past Director Hansen is a retired educator. A member
of the Brookings Lions Club since 1966, Past Director Hansen has held
many offices within the association, including club president, zone
chairman, region chairman, vice district governor and district
governor. In addition, he has served on the South Dakota Lions Eye Bank
Task Force, was secretary/treasurer of the South Dakota Past District
Governors Association and has been a presenter at state and district
conventions. In recognition of his service to the association, he has
received numerous awards, including the 100% District Governor Award, a
Certificate of Appreciation from the Lions Eye Bank Task Force, a
Rebuilding Lion Award, an Extension Award, an International President’s
Leadership Award and an Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest
honor granted by the association to its members. He is also a Melvin
Jones Fellow. In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Hansen
is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a
member of the Brookings Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Ascension
Memorial Trust Fund, chairman of the South Dakota Eminent Farmer and
Homemaker Association and secretary of the Retired University Faculty
Association. He is also a past president of Gamma Sigma Delta and
Epsilon Sigma Phi, and is a member of the American Legion, Veterans of
Foreign Wars and the Brookings Economic Development Committee. Past
Director Hansen and his wife, Roberta, also a Melvin Jones Fellow, have
four children and five grandchildren.
