District
Governor Jan Froemming was born on farm near McClusky,North Dakota.
She attended a country school for all of her eight grades and went to
McClusky High School, graduating in 1959. She attended Capital
Commercial College in Bismarck for one year and graduated in 1960. Jan
then moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1961 were worked at Doctors
Hospital as a switchboard operator and ward clerk for eight years. She
then moved back to Bismarck, and in 1969 she began working at Bismarck
Hospital in the same capacity for 12 years.
Lion Jan joined the Elgin Lioness in 1992 and they chartered to Elgin Dakota Lions in 1996. She has been very active in the Lions organization, in her club she has served as President for two years, director for four years, tail twister for a year, and Blood Drive Coordinator for four years. She served on the North Dakota Foundation Board for six years and has been on the 5NW Cabinet for 10 years, including two years as zone chairman. Her most outstanding contribution has been in the area of Leader Dog Chairman. She has been District Chairman for seven years, and for the last five years she has received the 100% Leader Dog award for the District. She has also received a President's Award of Appreciation from International President Dr. Jean Behar in 2000-2001. Jan has attended 12 state conventions and 5 Mult-District conventions. Jan married Dale Foemming in Elgin and they ran Dale's Bait Shop for eleven years until they retired in 2006. Jan has two married children, four grandchildren, and one great granchild. Over the years, she has also been active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, Moose Lodge Auxiliary and Senior Meal Program.
