District Governor Gordon Waldron

Gordon was born in the then British Guiana, now known as Guyana, South America. After Primary School in the town of New Amsterdam, he attended High School in the City of Georgetown.  After graduation, he joined the Daily Chronicle Newspaper as a Junior Proof-Reader.  Gordon later joined the British Guiana Police Force and served for 13 years.
 
Gordon immigrated to Canada in 1974 and settled in Calgary, Alberta. He was employed variously as Purchase Agent, in Corporate Security and in Transportation. His wife Maryanne and he were married in 1980 and have four children and four grandchildren.
 
Gordon joined Carseland Lions in Alberta in 1992.  He was President for two consecutive years, then joined the Cabinet as a Zone Chairman.  Other positions held were: Chairman for the Lions Eye Bank, Cabinet Secretary for two consecutive years, Chairman for Guide Dogs then Leader Dogs. He has been presented with a Bill Weber Fellowship, an International President's Certificate of Appreciation, Life Membership to the Lions Foundation of Canada, numerous Certificates of Appreciation and a Guiding Lion. He has attended one USA\Canada Leadership Forum.
 
Gordon retired in 2007, moved to Swift Current and transferred to Swift Current Lions. He believes that Teamwork is the key to meeting the many needs of Communities, along with Member growth, Retention and Training.
